Excite and Magellan search engines question

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Hi,

does anyone know what the logic of the Excite and Magellan search
engines is?
I.e. how do they display site descriptions. They seem to display
random sentences from the webpages and they don’t display what’s in
the meta tags. Furthermore, the search engines don’t seem to be able
to parse out the javascript protions of the pages.

Does anyone know how to get your pages listed properly in these two
engines?

Thanks

Please check out/ test my REVOLUTIONARY site !

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Dearest Webmasters,

Please test/check out my revolutionary site, Nigel’s GuestBook Page
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~nigelsha/GuestFrames.html

Revolutionary ?
Well its only a guest-book: Surfers leave a message which gets
added to the page. Its revolutionary as it does this without using
CGI, which would be costly. Instead it uses a Java Applet,
which updates the page using FTP in the same way that a Webmaster
would upload a new page.

The Catch(s) ?
1) The surfer must enter his IP address, which he gets from a
tiny frame in the corner of the page. Security restrictions on
Java Applets prevent the Applet from obtaining this address
directly.
2) It only works on Internet Explorer
3) Its slower than CGI

Next week, I will publish the method for all to use.
Thanks,
Nigel

Fixed Background and Netscape Navigator

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Is there any way to have a fixed background in Netscape Navigator?  I’ve
tried many scripts, but the ones I’ve tried have only worked in ie4.0,
because netscape doesn’t support the
background-attachment: fixed
command for javascript.

Any help that anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.
