   What exactly did you want to do with text on your gif? Do you want to change the
   text that is on the gif already or do you just want to add text to the gif?

   Assuming that you did not do the original and do not have the separate
   layers, it is going to be tough.  The clone brush function in Paint Shop Pro
   5 might allow you to do a halfway decent job, depending on the complexity of
   the image.  Other than that, you are down to using an enlarged view, and
   editing pixel by pixel, matching the colors next to the text.
