Is it me or has the content of these newsgroups taken a nose dive over the
weekend?

The porn spammers are here in force, the bastards. If I want gross
porn I’ll go out and get it, but I don’t want it on my screen when I’m
contributing to a zen newsgroup and a couple of others. It’s
outrageous and utterly sad…

According to your properties you’re using MS Explorer. If you got to
TOOLSand then NEWSGROUP FILTERS you can set up your properties. You’ll have
to keep an eye out for continous spammers. Start with nob…@nowhere33.yet
as I have. You’ll be able to see who the frequent spammers are. I think
that you can also omit messages on certain subects such as nude, tits, you
get the idea.
